Click this introEzra creating the theological structure of the Hebrew Bible

In this course, we will delve into the theological structures found within both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament. Through a comprehensive study of key texts, themes, and concepts, we will explore how these foundational religious texts have shaped the beliefs and practices of millions of individuals around the world.

The Old and New Testaments share the theme of the ancient Jewish Marriage and Betrothal Ceremony. The Old Testament was composed from multiple documents to present God's character to Israel and preserve Israel’s culture for future generations. New Testament authors noticed this and the authors used existing Midrashic techniques to incorporate these themes into their own writing. This course examines the first four of five Bridegroom threads from the Old Testament and briefly explores how New Testament writers used them. The interwoven worldviews of Biblical Judaism, Second Temple Judaism, and New Testament Judaism formed a unified New Testament Midrashic worldview. The New Testament, and in particular, Paul's 'Oldest Midrash' was a product of First Century Hellenistic Judaism. It is hoped that this study will serve to help readers better understand the Jewish world in which the New Testament was born.
